 | Big Deal |
NewScreen Media Group Plc and TransWorld Concepts, the US based licensing and consumer products group, today announced an exclusive representation agreement for two key intellectual properties. The agreement will see NewScreen’s children properties The Jellies and Junk Planet represented in all licensing categories by Transworld Concepts throughout Canada and the USA.
TransWorld Concepts already have existing relationships with both UK and US licensors, and currently represent properties such as Little Monsters and Shoobeez. TWC represent the merchandising interests of Splash and Leadbelly Productions, amongst others, in the all-important US marketplace.
The agreement will run for an initial 3-year term, with renewal options thereafter, and represents a significant step forward in the US for NewScreen Media Group Plc. Commenting on the agreement, NewScreen’s CEO Nick Underwood said “I’ve known TWC for a number of years and Richard Glassman (TransWorld’s President) is one of the most respected individuals in the US licensing industry. The two properties that TransWorld will be representing for us fit very well alongside those currently in the TWC stable, and once we have the right broadcaster(s) in-place, I’m confident that this agreement will deliver great rewards”.
Richard Glassman, President of TransWorld Concepts said of the deal, " I'm very excited to be representing NewScreen Media's The Jellies and Junk Planet in the U.S. and Canadian markets. The Jellies is a pre-school property born out of The Jellabies, which itself was always extremely well received by children around the world. The educationally slanted treatment that NewScreen have introduced gives the new property a much sought after formula that will help turn it into an evergreen property for years to come”.
Commenting on Junk Planet, Glassman said “The new Junk Planet series is going to be the next big boys property to hit the U.S. The look and the ‘feel’ of the animation are out of this world, and the subtly stated ‘eco’ message is one that kids in the US are relating to at an increasingly younger age. The property has hit written all over it in my view."
NewScreen is already in discussion with a US Network broadcaster for transmission of The Jellies, and has engaged a highly regarded US educational specialist to advise on the scripting of the new content. Delivery of the 40 x 10-minute episodes will be in the Autumn of 2003, when other broadcasters around the world will be offered the new programmes.
A pilot of the all-new Junk Planet series has recently been completed, and this will be introduced to broadcasters at MipTV in Cannes later this month.

Re: Big Deal (Score: 0) by Anonymous on Friday, March 21 @ 07:30:20 GMT | I just hope the last few postings on this site gives certain pessimists a change of heart and the confidence that the new company is on track for better things. I've been absolutely fed up with all the dribble of which has previously been written on here. I for one will stick with this company although I know many people will sell their shares as and when the re-listing happens, more fool them!
